Emma Stirling-Cameron is a PhD student in the School of Population and Public Health at the University of British Columbia. Her research focuses on the sexual and reproductive health inequities and access to healthcare for refugee and asylum-seeking populations. Emma’s doctoral project is a mixed-methods, community-based study evaluating the sexual and reproductive health consequences of deterrence-based immigration policy at the US-Mexico border in Tijuana. Emma is also a member of the #WelcometoCanada Constortium, led by Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, which is working towards immigration detention abolition in Canada.
