Bringing together researchers from a wide range of disciplines, the UBC Centre for Migration Studies seeks to understand and engage in debate about the drivers and consequences of international migration through research, education, and outreach.
Research
To understand the challenges and opportunities of cross-border migration. We carry out research on a wide range of migration-related topics, including social inclusion and integration, immigration policy, public opinion and xenophobia, border politics, and the intersection of Indigeneity and immigration.
Education
To train experts in the study of migration and its research methods.
Outreach
To promote debate and appreciation of the challenges and opportunities of immigration and to share our expertise with policymakers, immigrant and refugee service providers, and the public.
