The Centre for Migration Studies is hiring a Policy Research Assistant through the Work Learn International Undergraduate Research Awards program.

Duties
The successful candidate will research Canadian immigration and integration policy developments across multiple levels of government, support the translation of academic research into accessible formats, and contribute to the production and dissemination of CMS policy and data briefs. This will involve research and background information collection; data analysis; data visualization; and collaboration/process support. The role is well suited to a detail-oriented student with an interest in immigration and/or Canadian public policy, strong research and analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex information in clear written and visual formats.
Qualifications
- Essential: Interest in Canadian immigration policies; Demonstrated research experience, preferably in public policy or related fields; Ability to quickly locate and evaluate credibility of sources; Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in both quantitative and qualitative work; Strong organizational skills and ability to follow detailed instructions; Ability to work independently and take initiative; Demonstrated ability to use generative AI tools appropriately, with strong judgement about verification, sourcing and when independent validation is required.
- Preferred: Proficient data handling skills, including cleaning, organizing, and basic analysis of datasets; Experience working with datasets from IRCC, Statistics Canada, and/or similar sources; Familiarity with knowledge translation best practices; Ability to create clear, accurate, and accessible data visualizations; Proficiency in data visualization tools.
