As part of its commitment to translating research into actionable policy and fostering evidence-based discussions on migration, UBC’s Centre for Migration Studies is excited to introduce the new Migration Insights Series.
This series of research briefs will highlight peer-reviewed work from CMS affiliates and present the research in a concise and accessible format for migration scholars, students, policymakers, media, and the general public. New briefs will be released every 4-8 weeks, providing ongoing insights into critical issues in migration studies.
“Debates over migration are regularly poisoned by misinformation. With the Migration Insights Series, we want to share the research and insights of our experts, without jargon, to inform timely topics on migration in Canada and world-wide. We aim to empower informed discussions and decision-making.”
The first issue will be published on Monday, November 4, 2024, and features research by CMS affiliate, Dr. Matthew Wright.
His research delves into whether the American public is as divided on immigration as the political rhetoric surrounding the U.S. presidential election between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris suggests. Dr. Wright’s analysis of public opinion underscores, perhaps surprisingly, the significant overlaps and often moderate views of ordinary Americans.
Stay tuned for the release!
