I teach Persian language and culture, primarily to heritage students who are the children of Iranian and Afghan immigrants. These students are often navigating the complexities of reconnecting with their ancestral homeland and culture while simultaneously contending with the pressures of assimilation into Canadian society. My research focuses on the struggles of second- and third-generation migrants and their families as they work to carve out a unique voice within the broader host community.
