About
My research is focused on immigrant caregivers who have children with special needs navigating the education and healthcare system. There is a lack of research that portrays the lives of immigrant parents with children diagnosed with SN children in Canada. The scarcity of such data inhibits the cultural integrity of activities in schools, daycare facilities, and other child-serving environments. Addressing this gap, the present study focuses on the impact of perceptions and cultural beliefs of immigrant parents on their understanding of their child with special needs diagnosis and how that, in turn, impacts their well-being through exploring their experiences with the service providers and seeking help.
