Jayson is an MA student in Political Science at the University of British Columbia where his research focuses on Canadian immigration politics and policies, with a focus on immigration enforcement. As a first-generation immigration himself, Jayson is interested in how public perception of immigration has changed over time, how it has been mobilized by politicians to create migration policies, and how these ultimately shape the already precarious experiences of migrants. More broadly, he hopes to contribute to the public understanding of immigration policies and the migrant experience in Canada. Outside of graduate school, Jayson has had federal government experience working for the Canada Border Services Agency and Global Affairs Canada.
