The Grad Power Hour initiative created opportunities for graduate students to present their research works-in-progress to their peers with robust Q&A and a shared lunch.
It brought together graduate students from across UBC to explore migration through different disciplinary lenses and to look for interconnections and divergence across disciplines. Students presented work of diverse formats (such as dissertation proposals or chapter drafts) and could seek feedback on things such as content, methodology, or even more detailed data collection concerns.
The initiative was a great way to connect and network with other students across program areas with an interest in migration and to share their research in an informal setting.
Grad Power Hour activities have been folded into the core seminar (ASTU 505) for the Graduate Certificate in Migration Studies.
