The event features three panels on important topics in migration studies:
Voices of Migration: Language and Identity [9:30 am – 11:00 am]

This panel delves into the complex and intricate intersections of language, identity, and migration through discussions on governance in education, families’ language planning and long-term investments in convertible capital, and artistic expressions of migrants.
Exploring the Intersection of Land, Place and Migration [11:15 am – 12:45 pm]
Panelists: Guntas Kaur, Lin Zeng, Quinton Huang, Tayo Olarewaju
This panel explores the relationship between land, place, and migration, with a focus on forced displacement, decolonial Indigenous-immigrant relations, and the political involvement of migrant communities in Canada.
Building Healthy Communities: Perspectives on Migrant Health and Well-Being [1:45 pm – 3:15 pm]
Panelists: Astou Thiam, Naomi Maldonado-Rodriguez, Emma Stirling-Cameron
This panel navigates the landscape of migrant health and well-being by studying the effects of migration policies in the everyday experiences of migrants in different contexts.
