Ian Alexander is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Curriculum and Pedagogy currently completing his doctoral study on the perspectives and experiences of Canadian teacher who have taught social studies in accredited British Columbia offshore schools in China. These schools were created and designed as bridges for international students to prepare for migration to Canada by studying the same high school curriculum as students across British Columbia. Additionally, these schools have been part of teacher migration to China and then to teach in domestic British Columbia schools. Beyond research into the experiences of students and teachers in offshore schools, he has analyzed social studies curriculum and the contentious role of textbooks in Canadian offshore schools.
