Mentorship

Recognizing that the study of migration and mobilities can take place through many disciplinary lenses and is also interdisciplinary in nature, the Centre for Migration Studies is launching a Mentor in Residence Program for CMS graduate student affiliates.

Rima Wilkes, Professor and Graduate Student Chair in the Department of Sociology will take on this inaugural position to provide advice and support in navigating graduate studies in migration related research. She will be available for informal conversations with interested graduate students and will lead a discussion on professional and academic development during one of the CMS Grad Student Power Hour Sessions this semester.

It’s a wonderful opportunity to have someone to talk to about your research or graduate studies experience who has an understanding of the experience but also is not directly related to your work. We at the CMS are deeply grateful and excited to have Rima as our Mentor in Residence.
