The UBC Centre for Migration Studies kicks off the second of its Grad Student Power Hour programming with Anne-Cécile Delaisse (PhD student, Occupational Science) on June 10, 2021.
The bi-monthly event provides a platform for UBC graduate students to share their migration research beyond their academic departments. It also provides networking opportunities with faculty, students, researchers and practitioners from across the broader university and community sectors.
Each Grad Student Power Hour will begin with a 10 minute networking session, followed by a 30 minute research talk. The remaining 20 minutes will be reserved for discussion.
Speakers for the next two events include:
- May 28 – Lisa Brunner (Education Studies PhD Candidate) – ‘Edugration’ as a Wicked Problem
- June 10 – Anne-Cécile Delaisse (Occupational Science PhD Student) – Applying an occupational science lens to study migration
- June 24 – Caitlyn Yates (Anthropology PhD Student) – Transcontinental Migration through the Americas
Click on the talk title above to visit each event page. There, you can read an abstract for each talk, learn more about each grad student presenter, and RSVP for the events. As the initial events are online, a zoom link, when available, will be sent to all participants who RSVP.
All are welcome to attend The UBC Centre for Migration Studies’ Grad Student Power Hours. We look forward to seeing you there!
