We are pleased to announce that Prof. Suzanne Huot will assume the role of Interim Co-Director of the UBC Centre for Migration Studies for a 12-month period commencing September 1, 2025.
Prof. Suzanne Huot, Associate Professor in the Department of Occupational Science & Occupational Therapy, will be helping to lead the Centre while Co-Director Prof. Antje Ellermann is on research leave.
Suzanne has been actively involved with CMS since its beginnings, having served as a co-lead of the Migration Research Excellence Cluster that preceded the institutionalization of CMS as a formal centre. From 2018 to 2024, she coordinated the CMS Community-University Partnerships research group. Suzanne’s research sits at the intersection of studies of occupation, everyday life, Francophone minority communities, and immigrants, refugees and asylum-seekers. She brings a strong commitment to both academic and community-based work.
Prof. Huot currently co-leads the “Employment and Lifelong Learning” theme of Bridging Divides, the Canada First Research Excellence Fund grant that anchors much of CMS’s current funding and research. In this role, she has built ties across the four-campus national partnership, in addition to her strong roots here at UBC and with service providers locally.
Please join us in congratulating Suzanne Huot on her new role!
