2022 Symposium on Global Community Engagement: Call for Proposals

2022 Symposium on Global Community Engagement: Call for Proposals

The Office of Regional and International Community Engagement (ORICE) is hosting a symposium on global community engagement this year with a focus on the theme: Contested Spaces, Contested Impact on March 10th. A broad interpretation of the theme is welcomed, but in selecting it we have considered some of the many questions that arise in community-university collaborations including physical and psychological questions of belonging, safety and power.  We have considered conflicting and differently understood standpoints, expectations, motivations and purposes of engagement and in turn consider how the question of meaningful impact is also contested.  Impact for who? By who? In what ways?

We are accepting applications for concurrent session presentations, workshops, dialogues etc. that engage with the theme of this ORICE symposium: Contested Spaces, Contested Impact. We invite UBC students at all academic levels, faculty, staff to present on their community engaged scholarship and encourage the inclusion of community partners to co-present when applicable. The deadline to submit your completed application is February 17th, 2022 at 11:59 PM PST.
