María Cervantes has a degree in International Relations from Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico and a Master of Arts in Geography from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. She is a PhD candidate at the University of British Columbia, Geography Department and a 2022-2023 Fox Fellow at Yale University. Her dissertation focuses on the ways in which immigration policies and education impact the choices of highly skilled migrants throughout their lives, shaping their understandings of citizenship and identity. This project contributes to the study of class and educational achievements in immigration and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the future of work.
