I am currently conducting research on the oral history of the Italian minority in Rijeka/Fiume, a city that, over the past two centuries, has been at the center of intense migratory processes, demographic shifts, and political upheavals.I focus on the Italian-speaking population that remained during the city’s transition from Fascist Italy to Socialist Yugoslavia, exploring their sense of displacement in a radically transformed landscape and the evolving, often difficult, relationship between the Italian exiles abroad and those who stayed.
