About
Francesca focuses on asylum and migration, urban space, and belonging and identity formation in contemporary Western Europe. For her doctoral research she is currently doing fieldwork in Berlin, Germany, looking at bottom-up strategies of city-making put in place by refugees and non-European migrants. She focuses especially on the body and emotions as vehicles for cognitive processes of reorientation in the urban context. Francesca experiments with art-based and movement-based methodologies to explore the relationship of migrants with space.
