Maia graduated with an LLB (Bachelor of Law) from the University of Sheffield in the UK specializing in European and International Law. She recently worked in global business immigration and has a background in legal community organization work with specific knowledge of governmental aid for refugees. Her work within universities includes running a legal clinic and creating collaborations to increase equitable access to higher education. She is active in a variety of anti-racism initiatives and is particularly interested in the implementation of public education and its influence on political behaviour related to race.
