About
Refoulement, the forced return of refugees, is an early central theme of my research focus, and home country, Syria. Evaluating the complicity of neighbouring countries, but more specifically the European Union’s, in the refoulement and inevitable disappearance and torture of Syrian refugees upon their entry to Assad’s Syria. With the fall of the Assad regime, and the drastic shift of voluntary return, my research intends to demonstrate how the proliferation of once silenced Syrian voices should be centered in the national healing process over crimes of politicide, and how it may inform studies on desectarianization.
