About

My research engages with migration and mobilities by examining how healthcare systems respond to the linguistic needs of migrant and refugee populations shaped by transnational movement. As a first-generation immigrant to Canada with professional experience across South Korea, Australia, and the United States, I approach language access as both a structural policy issue and a lived mobility experience. Language access policies mediate how migrants navigate healthcare spaces, influencing patient mobility within health systems, access to care, and health outcomes across regions. By comparing jurisdictions with different legislative frameworks, my research highlights how governance structures shape migrants’ capacity to exercise healthcare rights and achieve equitable care.
