Migration & Mobilities Graduate Paper Award

The Migration & Mobilities Graduate Paper Award recognized the work and academic excellence of graduate students and provided a valuable opportunity for emerging scholars to disseminate their research within the academic community and beyond.


Eligibility and Submission Guidelines

The competition was open to all CMS graduate student affiliates currently enrolled in a UBC graduate degree program. Eligible papers had to concentrate on topics related to migration, mobilities, and/or belonging and must be single-authored by the student. Papers may originate from coursework assignments or be based on original research.


Award Benefits

  • Monetary Prize: The award winner received a $400 cash prize.
  • Publication Opportunity: The winning paper was published in the CMS Working Paper Series (WPS), subject to review and recommended revisions by the WPS editors.

Submission Process

Interested students were invited to submit their papers according to the guidelines provided by CMS. Submissions were evaluated by the selection committee based on originality, rigour, and contribution to the field of migration studies.
