Migration & Mobilities Best Graduate Student Paper Award

The Migration & Mobilities Best Graduate Paper Award recognizes the work and academic excellence of graduate students and provides a valuable opportunity for emerging scholars to disseminate their research within the academic community and beyond.

We encourage all eligible students to participate and showcase their innovative work in migration and mobilities.


Eligibility and Submission Guidelines

The competition is open to all CMS graduate student affiliates who are currently enrolled in a UBC graduate degree program. Eligible papers should concentrate on topics related to migration, mobilities, and/or belonging and must be single-authored by the student. Papers may originate from coursework assignments or be based on original research.


Award Benefits

  • Monetary Prize: The award winner will receive a $400 cash prize.
  • Publication Opportunity: The winning paper will be published in the CMS Working Paper Series (WPS), subject to review and recommended revisions by the WPS editors.

Submission Process

Interested students should submit their papers following the guidelines provided by CMS in due course. The selection committee will evaluate submissions based on originality, rigour, and contribution to the field of migration studies.
