CMS is pleased to invite you to its International Research Conference 2024, in collaboration with the Hong Kong Baptist University Faculty of Social Sciences, scheduled for Wednesday, May 15 and Thursday, May 16, 2024, at the Liu Institute for Global Issues.
Under the theme Belonging and Mobility in a Transnational World, participants will explore the complex interplay between identity, movement, and connectivity across borders.
This year, we are honoured to announce Professor Nina Glick Schiller as our in-person keynote speaker. Professor Glick Schiller, Emeritus Professor at the University of Manchester, UK, and the University of New Hampshire, USA, is a field-defining scholar with extensive research in urbanism, transnational migration, and cosmopolitanism. Her hybrid talk, titled “The End of Migration as We Know It: Studying and Opposing Regimes of Dehumanization,” will take place on Wednesday, May 15, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM (PDT).
The conference will feature five panel sessions open to the public, covering diverse aspects of migration and mobility:
- The Impact of Migration Policies on Migrant Experiences
- Intergroup Relations in Contexts of Immigration
- The Nexus of Work and Belonging among Immigrant Workers
- Borders and Bordering Practices
- Global Diasporas and Social Identities
Attendees are asked to RSVP for lunch on either day.
Don’t miss this opportunity to engage in stimulating discussions and gain insights into the ever-evolving landscape of migration and mobility. We look forward to welcoming you to CMS International Research Conference 2024!
