Workshop Award

Matching Funds for 2024 SSHRC Connection Grant Applications

Deadline Change

SSHRC has changed the August 1 deadline for Connection Grants to JUNE 20. This is a one-time change for the 2024-25 cycle. Going forward, the standard application deadlines will be in place.

CMS is pleased once again to offer competitive matching funds for SSHRC Connection Grant applications by CMS faculty affiliates based at UBC. Two $7,000 awards are available in 2024. Eligible projects will focus on migration and mobilities research, involve at least two CMS faculty affiliates, and feature a workshop event for which the CMS matching funds will be used. In addition to funding, successful applicants will receive limited in-kind supports from CMS (e.g., budget, event, and/or promotional support).

In order to be considered, Workshop Award applicants must first submit a Notice of Intent (NOI) via the form below. Final applications will subsequently be accepted via the website as well. Here are more details and information:

Key Dates:

  • NOI Deadline: April 22, 2024

  • Award Notification: May 21, 2024
  • SSHRC Deadline: June 20, 2024
  • Workshop Event Deadline: May 18, 2025

The competition may remain open for subsequent 2024 SSHRC Connection Grant application deadlines as long as CMS Workshop Awards remain available.

Note that CMS will be the administering unit on the final SSHRC grant application and award, if successful.
