About

My current research project addresses dislocations in the Latin American and Caribbean region in a hemispheric context, probing contemporary geographical, cultural and subjective displacements that occur due to economic globalization, new forms of cultural encounters, and conflicts arising from these processes. Specifically, the research examines concepts of cultural syncretism in the presence of African Diaspora practices as they interact with media in Brazil, and in comparative contexts.
