About

Building upon my doctoral findings, my program of research centres on women impacted by forced migration. We know that most women forcibly displaced from their home countries have been, and continue to be, affected by gender-based violence. We know that settlement organizations are central to ensuring safe and effective settlement among women impacted by forced migration. However, we also know that the settlement sector in Canada is underfunded and works with limited resources and time constraints. As a result, I focus my research fellowship on establishing new partnerships across settlement and academic sectors toward understanding facilitators and barriers to accessing settlement services among women with varying forced migration statuses. Being mentored by Dr. Vicky Bungay and the Capacity Research Unit has provided me with an infrastructure to support this emerging research while also aligning with my intersectionality and trauma and violence informed lenses.
