Climate Migration

The Climate Migration research group is dedicated to addressing the complex and multifaceted challenges posed by climate-induced migration. As global climate change continues to reshape migration patterns, the group emphasizes the importance of advancing comprehensive research, informed policy analysis, and effective community engagement.

By fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, producing impactful research, and driving meaningful policy advocacy, it aims to build a robust foundation for addressing this critical global issue.

  • Community, livelihoods and health vulnerability research and assessments
  • Policy analysis, cross-border movements, grassroots and institutional responses
  • Climate modeling, impacts and mobility forecasting research
  • Transnational mobilities research with inclusion of non-humans

Coordinators

The research group is co-led by Dr. Jemima Baada, Assistant Professor of Geography, and Dr. Farrukh Ahmed Chishtie, Lecturer at the UBC Sustainability Hub and President of Peaceful Society, Science and Innovation Foundation.
